January 5 2003 Hello and Welcome, Sorry I cannot address you personally at the moment, but let us not concern ourselves with that.  Let me extend to you a warm welcome to the O'Dochartaigh Clann Association. Since you found one of our websites you may have learned some new and exciting things about our clan, our name of various spellings and things Irish.  Something else you have probably noticed is that the websites are undergoing a new facelift as well as updated and improved content.  The management, and clan as a whole, is going through a similar change.  We are in the process of forming a Not-for-profit corporation in the USA and forming committees of various types, and changing our form of government by soon electing a board.  We are on the move in so many ways. If that's not enough (forming a new corporation, establishing committees and improving our websites), wehave two other major projects in the works right now.  We are hard at work preparing for our next Grand-Reunion which will be held in Ireland (this marks our 5th one in Ireland) the summer of 2005.  We are also working hard at finding Dohertys throughout the world and letting them know about us.  It is our hope that they join the association and make improvements of their own. I am informing you of these activities, because we could use some help.  I believe that there are many people who would love to help.  So I am spreading the word.  I also believe that we will be a better group if we involved everyone who wanted to help- even if it is only a couple hours a month. I promise that you will not need to work more than this, that it would be from your own home, that you could come in and out of active service as your schedule lets you, that you can move to other committees as your interest leads or as we develop new committees, and that you will have fun meeting lots of active and exciting people.  We are betting on the fact that lots of you join.  It is how we are structured.  If it doesn't happen, we won't exist long.  But, survive we have! We survive today because many people want to share our common heritage, research deeper than ever our origins and early Doherty & Irish history, share genealogy, compile genealogical records, and preserve historical artifacts for future generations.  We need to bring our scattered clan back together.  We need to help those thousands of family members who are now working alone.  We need to provide every O'Dochartaigh family descendant with the wonderful knowledge of his or her heritage. If these goals get you excited, than do yourself and your extended family a favor and get in touch with me.  See how much fun it will be getting involved in this great cause. Be Involved.  Feel Involved.  There isn't anything like it!  If interested click here!
